A Quick Update

Posted: August 7, 2012 in Uncategorized

Wow. It’s hard to believe that tonight will mark a full week since arriving in Crozet, Virginia. It’s been one fast, crazy busy week. My apologies for not updating in a while, but it’s only been today that things have slowed down a bit. Waiting until the kids are asleep to write might not work too well- I fell asleep last night on the floor in Gracelyn’s room!

God has continued to provide for us since moving here. Though my support network remains at 62%, we have been blessed to be treated to several meals, many were brought to us, and Sarai and I won a Walmart gift card last week. Please continue to pray that God will increase our support network. Though we don’t yet know what it will look like, I know that God will take care of us.

Last Thursday night we had our weekly community groups. Currently there are two, but with my arrival a third one (and even a soon-to-follow fourth one!) is in the works for later this month. We spent some time in fellowship and prayer, and then we had a great discussion about what it means to go from “being darkness” to being “light,” as Paul talks about in Ephesians 5:7. As our vision is to see a community group on every street of every block within every community here in Crozet, it’s exciting to see them growing rapidly.

This past Sunday was our Sunday gathering, and it was a great time of worshiping God in song, giving, and preaching. It was surrealistic, standing before fifty-odd people as a new elder on the LJC eldership team. I’m looking forward to presenting the Word this Sunday as Walt and I are alternating weeks. I was appreciative of his offer to let me begin preaching on the 12th, but then I discovered that the first verse of my text is Ephesians 5:22. Nothing like beginning a preaching ministry on such a cultural hot potato!

Please continue to pray for my family, for CBT, and for LJC as we progress in this transition. Leaving is never fun, and saying goodbye is always difficult.
