Luke 22: Divine Mystery

Luke 22:22

“For the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!”

This passage most clearly affirms two important truths. One, nothing happens that is not predestined to occur. God does not have to “adjust” to our will or actions. We in fact do nothing that isn’t part of His sovereign will.

However, our compliance to God’s decree does not absolve us from being morally responsible for our actions. Though everything, including sin, is preordained by God, we should be and are held accountable.
