Luke 20. Would you like fries with that?

In chapter twenty of his account of the gospel, Luke shares with us some of the many times that the scribes and pharisees tried to trap Jesus with their words, only to have the tables turned by Jesus. It struck me as sad that the only time these men actually listened to Jesus was while they were trying to trap Him.

Unfortunately, many people boasting the label “christian” do the same thing with God’s word. They’re all about “judge not!” yet they abhor “be holy.” They know “eye for an eye” and ignore “love your neighbor.”

Friends, the word of God isn’t a buffet. We do not have the “luxury” of picking and choosing the portions that we care for and discarding the rest. True satisfaction is found only in reading, disecting, and applying all of it.
