Interlude Four

Posted: October 18, 2011 in Interlude (Psalms)

David unlocks for us the secret to happiness in Psalm four as he says in verse seven, “You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound.” The secret is simply this- true happiness is found only in God, not in external things.

David says, “Hey, you can have an awesome crop, which leads to an epic harvest, which leads to a great profit, which leads to being loaded…and that feeling ain’t crap compared to the happiness and contentment that comes with belonging to God!”

Don’t get so caught up in the materialism that runs rampant in this country. No, it’s not wrong to own things or desire earthly materials (within reason)…But let’s keep our focus where it belongs- on God, and finding contentment with Him.
