1 John One: Talk is Cheap

Posted: October 11, 2011 in 1 John

This is definitely one of those chapters that I cannot do justice to over a single post. I would almost rather skip it and do a thorough exegesis on it later rather than pass over so much good stuff. Nonetheless, there is a time and a place for longevity, and this ain’t it, lol.

It’s real simple, y’all. “If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.”

Those are John’s words; not mine. And what he means is this: if we claim to be followers of Christ, yet our lifestyle consistently reflects the lifestyle of a non-Christian, than we can pretty much assume that we’re just as long as the non-believers around us. Point being, Christians act like Christians.

Not perfectly, never unceasingly, but as a way of life.

What’s your walk doing for you- confirming your talk, or betraying your lies?
